Sangeetacharya D.V. Kanebuva Pratishthan.

Established in 2007 by Vidushi Manjusha Patil and Shri Govind Bedekar, the Sangeetacharya Pt. D.V. Kanebuva Pratishthan preserves the memory and musical vision of Vidushi Manjusha Patil’s revered Guru.

Guided by Vidushi Manjusha Patil as Secretary and Shri Govind Bedekar as President, the Pratishthan has organised more than 125 musical programmes across India, presented eminent and emerging artists, and supported deserving classical-music students through scholarships.

A Legacy Continued
04 A LEGACY CONTINUED

From the Pratishthan to the Foundation.

The Sangeetacharya D.V. Kanebuva Pratishthan began the work of preserving a Guru’s memory and transforming that remembrance into meaningful service to music.

The Sangeetacharya Kanebuva Foundation carries the same work into its next chapter. The institutional form has evolved, but the purpose remains continuous: to honour the legacy of Sangeetacharya Pt. D.V. Kanebuva through education, performance, artist development and social responsibility.

Together, the Pratishthan and the Foundation represent one uninterrupted musical journey—rooted in gratitude, strengthened through practice and directed towards future generations.

05 A NEW CHAPTER

Sangeetacharya Kanebuva Foundation.

To give greater scope and continuity to nearly two decades of significant work, the Sangeetacharya Kanebuva Foundation was incorporated on 22 April 2026 as a Section 8 company.

Vidushi Manjusha Patil and Shri Govind Bedekar serve as Directors of the Foundation and continue to guide its activities. The programmes developed under the Pratishthan will now move forward through the Foundation, retaining the same artistic purpose while gaining a broader organisational framework.

This transition is not a departure from the Pratishthan’s history; it is an extension of it. The Foundation carries forward the memory of Sangeetacharya Pt. D.V. Kanebuva and the values embodied in his teaching, while creating new possibilities for education, performance, documentation and outreach.

Objectives of the Foundation

The Foundation’s principal objective is to promote, preserve and broaden access to Indian classical music through sustained education, performance and cultural activity. It seeks to strengthen Gurukul Sangeet Vidyalaya through its branches in Sangli, Pune and Bhilawadi, while extending the same tradition of personal musical guidance to students in India and abroad through the Online Gurukul.

It is committed to providing scholarships to talented, hardworking students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds; creating dignified performance platforms for emerging artists; and organising educational, cultural and social initiatives that deepen public engagement with classical music. Through workshops in villages and schools, the Foundation also aims to introduce children and rural communities to Indian classical music, ensuring that musical learning and appreciation reach beyond established urban centres.

A living institution shaped by remembrance, learning, performance and service.
