Celebration of Bharat Ratna Pt. Bhimsen Joshi at Gadag

Bharat Ratna Pt. Bhimsen Joshi Janmashatabdi
The Birth Centenary Year Celebration of Bharat Ratna Pt. Bhimsen Joshi was initiated by Sangeetacharya Pt. D. V. Kanebuva Pratishthan as a year-long tribute to the legendary vocalist and his extraordinary contribution to Hindustani classical music.
*The centenary celebrations began on 4 February 2021 at Gadag, Karnataka* — the birthplace of Pt. Bhimsen Joshi. Beginning the commemorative year from the place where his remarkable musical journey began made the occasion especially meaningful.
The inaugural programme brought together eminent vocalists and accompanists in a musical homage to Panditji, celebrating his artistry, legacy and enduring influence on generations of musicians and listeners.
Through this initiative, the Pratishthan sought to commemorate 100 years since the birth of Pt. Bhimsen Joshi and carry forward the memory and inspiration of one of India’s most revered musical icons throughout his centenary year.
